Seven-branched sword was a gift to the ruler of Yamato (ancient Japan) by the King of Baekje (ancient kingdom on Korean Peninsula) around mid-4th century. And it has been designated as national treasure of Japan. As the blade’s irregular shape is not suited for combat, it is unlikely that the Seven-Branched Sword was used as a military weapon. Instead, it probably had a ceremonial function. Phrases are inscribed on both sides of the sword, including the one that reads " Using this sword repels 100 enemy soldiers.” I believe that the words “100 enemy soldiers” mean army, implying that the sword was a symbol of peace to avoid wars. The inscription ends with the words “pass it down to future generations.” However, they were forgotten as time passed.
The seven-branched sword is full of mysteries, but it appears that the sword was reproduced in Okinawa in 1994. I was very surprised to find out it. Why was it reproduced in the current era? Our world is in state of great turmoil: war, terrorism incidents and what not. I think it was necessary that the seven-branched sword was reproduced in this age of turmoil.
It is significant that the Seven-branched sword, a symbol of world peace, was reproduced.
